Starting from the 1st of January 2026, Moldovan artists and cultural organisations have access to Creative Europe cultural funds on equal terms with their peers across Europe. Commissioner Glenn Micallef welcomed Moldova’s entry to Creative Europe marking a significant step for the country’s accession to the EU.
By Creatives Unite NewsroomOn the 1st of January 2026 Moldova entered Creative Europe and officially became the programme’s 41st country.
“It’s a moment worth celebrating and a clear message: Moldovan culture is European culture.” posted Glenn Micallef, Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport.
Cristian Jardan, Culture Minister of Moldova stated to MOLDPRES that ‘‘The accession of Moldova to Creative Europe is a significant achievement. Our country has become part of the EU's only programme dedicated exclusively to culture. Although Moldova will be eligible to apply, resources remain limited, considering the programme targets all 27 EU member states and 14 other associated states’’.
With the country’s accession to Creative Europe, artists and cultural organisations of Moldova have access to European cultural funds on equal terms with their peers across Europe, opening new visibility and collaboration opportunities for creators and cultural professionals.
A National Information office will be established by Moldovan authorities to facilitate the application process and connectivity of cultural organizations of Moldova with European partners.
Moldova has already been linked to Creative Europe in the previous programme period (2014-2020).
