About the Research Topic

The linear model of production and consumption has resulted in severe environmental degradation and social inequities. In response, the circular and regenerative economies offer viable alternatives. Within this shift, the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) are uniquely positioned to drive the EU’s triple transition—green, social, and digital—through innovation, sustainability, and human-centered approaches.

This Research Topic aims to explore how CCIs can catalyze transformative shifts across ecological, social, and digital sectors. Key themes include nature-based solutions, design-thinking, socio-ecological collaboration, workers’ rights, and strongly sustainable entrepreneurial practices.

The initiative invites original research, case studies, conceptual analyses, and policy briefs that explore:

- How CCIs professionals can lead collaborative initiatives to foster behavioral change.
- Implementing human-centered frameworks that align with planetary boundaries.
- Existing tools and standards for regenerative practices in CCIs.
- Strategies for enhancing cross-sector and transdisciplinary collaboration.
- The upskilling and reskilling needed for CCIs professionals to navigate the triple transition.
- How CCI practices contribute to local, regional, and global policy and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
