The upcoming 5th New European Bauhaus (NEB) webinar by WCCE is a part of New European Bauhaus Festival satellite events programme, taking place 8-21 April 2024. The webinar will present a programme of experts and makers, bringing new perspectives on the role of innovation, experimentation and the transformational potential of craft.
The webinar aligns with the principles of the NEB: beautiful, sustainable, together and will aim to discuss how crafts can play a pivotal role in new forms of innovation that are responsible, socially and environmentally conscious and capable of bringing positive economic, cultural and societal impacts.
Re-engaging old or heritage practices and innovating them in new ways can often bring sustainable and accessible ideas into contemporary life. The webinar programme will shed light on how societal needs; environmental concerns; policy priorities; new technologies and global access to information and knowledge sharing are impacting crafts and craftspeople. It will discuss how we should act with responsibility and care when it comes to the innovation journey and always consider the broader uses, costs and benefits involved.
Case studies and insights from experts will demonstrate how the innovation and experimentation of traditional craft knowledge can push new boundaries in terms of business models, materials, education, skills and community engagement.
The webinar is free and open for all to attend.
