The Podcast Academy is a new initiative by Aerowaves aimed at promoting dance and performance through the exciting medium of podcasting. This programme offers an opportunity for five participants to gain mentorship in podcasting, both online and in the live setting of the Spring Forward festival.

Programme Overview

The Aerowaves Podcast Academy is designed for those interested in dance, emerging artists, and the world of performance, offering them a platform to hone their podcasting skills. Participants will be mentored by Dany Mitzman, a seasoned broadcast journalist with over 25 years of experience, who has produced and presented numerous audio projects, including Aerowaves’ Spring Forecast and On Record.

Throughout the academy, participants will learn podcasting fundamentals, including interviewing techniques, production, recording, editing, and storytelling. They will have the opportunity to work hands-on during the Spring Forward festival, gaining practical experience in a vibrant, fast-paced environment.

Participants will receive travel, accommodation, hospitality, and a festival pass for the Spring Forward event, ensuring full participation in both the learning and festival experiences.

What the Podcast Academy Offers

- Mentorship by experienced professionals.
- Full coverage of the podcast production process (pre-production, recording, editing, and post-production).
- Online preparatory sessions (February/March 2025).
- In-person podcasting practice during the Spring Forward Festival (April 2025).
- A post-festival troubleshooting and feedback session (June/July 2025).
- A chance to collaborate, share ideas, and explore themes related to dance and performance.

Eligibility Criteria
The programme is looking for five participants who:

- Are based in Europe and proficient in spoken English (English fluency is not required).
- Are passionate about dance, emerging artists, and exploring diverse cultural, political, and social themes.
- Have an interest in podcasting (no prior podcasting experience necessary).

- A brief biographical paragraph about yourself.
- An mp3 audio file (max 1 minute) explaining why you would like to participate in the Podcast Academy. Feel free to be as creative as you want with your audio submission.
- Complete the online form and submit your application by 24:00 (CET) on Friday, 22 November 2024.
