September starts with fresh opportunities for cultural and creative professionals across Europe. This month’s curated list highlights five open calls supporting artistic production, cross-border collaboration, mobility, and curatorial work. With support for cross-border collaboration, artistic production, and professional development, these calls include disciplines such as visual arts, cultural management, and performance, offering pathways for engagement, visibility, and growth across the sector.


1. Liepāja 2027 Foundation | Co-Financing Competition for Cultural Events

Sector: Interdisciplinary Arts, Performing Arts, Literature, Music, Visual Arts

Deadline: September 10, 2025

The Liepāja 2027 Foundation invites proposals for co-financed cultural projects that will contribute to the official programme of Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027. This international open call seeks contemporary, interdisciplinary initiatives that support audience engagement, cross-border collaboration, and cultural innovation across the South Kurzeme and Kuldīga regions.


Support provided:
- €640,000 total available across all programme lines
- Eligible costs include artistic fees, production, venue, travel, accommodation, materials, and communications

Who can apply:
- Individual artists, collectives, organisations, and cultural professionals
- Projects must be realised in Liepāja or its regional surroundings (some opening events may take place elsewhere in Latvia)
- Activities must fall under one of eight thematic strands, such as literature, contemporary art, participatory theatre, digital experiences, film, and electronic music

2. Nordic Culture Fund & Partners | NEMO – Early Career Artist Mobility Grants

Sector: Cross-border Collaboration, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Research
Deadline: September 15, 2025, 23:59 CEST

The Northern European Mobility Opportunity (NEMO) is a pilot programme supporting early-career artists and arts practitioners based in the Nordics, UK, and Ireland. The programme funds the development of new international creative partnerships through travel, collaboration, and exploratory exchanges.


Support provided:
- Up to DKK 75,000 (~€10,000) per grant
- Additional access costs (up to 10%) available
- Funding covers travel, accommodation, fees, and time for collaborative development

Who can apply:
- Individual early-career artists and arts practitioners (excluding students or organisations)
- Applicants based in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Åland Islands, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland
- Applicants must propose new cross-border partnerships with collaborators in eligible countries

3. European Commission | Shape the Next New European Bauhaus Festival
Sector: Architecture, Design, Cross-Sectoral, Civic Participation
Deadline: September 30, 2025 (Fair & Fest) / December 31, 2025 (Satellite Events)

The third edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival will take place from 9–13 June 2026 in Brussels and across Europe. Organised by the European Commission, the festival highlights sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics in shaping the future of our built environments. Individuals and organisations are invited to apply to one of three open calls, contributing to the Festival’s Forum, Fair, Fest, or Satellite programme.


Support provided:
- Travel costs and artist fees covered for selected Fair and Fest participants
- Satellite event organisers receive visibility through the NEB platform, map and communication tools

- Artists, designers, creatives, cultural and civic organisations
- Project leaders and event organisers from Creative Europe countries
- Applicants proposing activities aligned with NEB values: sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics

4. Culture Moves Europe | Call for Evaluators
Sector: Arts, Cultural Heritage, Design, Literature, Architecture, Evaluation
Deadline: September 8, 2025

Culture Moves Europe is seeking 90 professionals to join its evaluator pool for the individual mobility and residency action schemes. This opportunity is ideal for experts in fields such as architecture, performing and visual arts, music, literature, design, and cultural heritage, who also have experience in project evaluation or international cooperation.


Support provided:
- €12 (plus VAT) per evaluation for mobility applications
- €20 (plus VAT) per evaluation for residency applications
- €5 additional per urgent evaluation

Who can apply:
- Professionals aged 18+ with expertise in at least one relevant cultural sector
- Applicants must have prior experience with evaluating proposals or cultural mobility projects
- Legal residency in Creative Europe countries, including Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) and Outermost Regions (ORs), is required
- Strong writing and digital skills, with high proficiency in English

5. British Council | Biennials Connect Grants 2025–2026
Sector: Visual Arts, Festivals, Mobility
Deadline: September 14, 2025

The British Council is offering Biennials Connect Grants of up to £9,500 to UK and international biennials or festivals. These grants enable the participation of visual artists in global programming, supporting mobility, production, and collaboration between festivals in the UK and eligible partner countries.


Support provided:
- Up to £9,500 for partnerships with ODA countries
- Up to £5,000 for non-ODA partnerships
- Additional £2,500 top-up available for access costs

Who can apply:
- UK and international biennials, festivals, or art organisations working in collaboration
- Projects must support artists aged 18+ and promote fair pay and inclusion
- Activities should take place between February 2026 and February 2027
- Individual artists are not eligible to apply
