Early Career Artist Mobility in the Nordics, UK & Ireland

NEMO is a pilot programme supporting early-career artists and arts practitioners in building new international partnerships across the Nordic countries, the UK, and Ireland. Backed by the Nordic Culture Fund and national arts funding agencies, NEMO offers up to 30 grants to enable collaborative, cross-border creative activity.

About the Programme

NEMO is designed to foster new artistic collaborations and mobility across Northern Europe. Up to DKK 75,000 (~€10,000) is available per grant to support early-stage partnership-building between artists and practitioners in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Åland Islands) and UK/Ireland (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland).

Grants can support physical, digital, or hybrid exchanges with an emphasis on:

- Research and development
- Artistic exchange and mentorship
- Cross-border collaboration building
- Travel and accommodation for exploratory visits
- Early-stage design of future creative projects

No final output is required. This programme is about building meaningful, sustainable connections across borders.

What can I expect?

- Grant support: Up to DKK 75,000 to cover travel, accommodation, artist fees, and time. Additional access costs (up to 10%) may be applied for separately.
- Flexibility: Projects must be completed within 12 months of receiving the award.
- NEMO welcomes applications reflecting the full diversity of identities and communities across partner regions.

Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible if:

- You are an individual artist or arts practitioner (not a student or organisation).
- You are based in one of the following countries:
- Nordic: Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Åland Islands
- UK/Ireland: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland
- You are in the early stages of your artistic career and have had limited opportunities to work internationally.
- You have identified a partner in another eligible country with whom you’ve agreed to collaborate.
- You are applying for a new partnership or collaboration (not a continuation of an existing one).
- You can complete your project within 12 months of receiving the award.
- You have a bank account in your country of residence.
