Seven projects from fourteen sites in eleven countries were selected. Each will receive 30,000€ in funding for the implementation of cross-border cooperation and community engagement EHL activities. Winners stood out as combining local heritage with the most pressing pan-European themes, including digitalisation, sustainability, citizenship and inclusion.
By Creatives Unite NewsroomThe European Heritage Label (EHL) Bureau announced the seven projects celebrated through the 2025 EHL Call for Projects, noting that: “The selected projects stood out for their innovative and collaborative approaches to strengthening a sense of European identity and belonging, particularly among young people”.
Winning projects involve fourteen sites in Belgium, Czechia, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania and Spain.
Each of the winning initiatives will receive up to 30,000€ in EHL funding. Since the establishment of the European Heritage Label in 2013, 67 sites have received the EHL designation by the European Commission, with the aim to strengthen their role in promoting shared European values and cultural heritage.
This year’s seven winners include;
Europe’s Children: A Journey Among Young Europeans - is a multimedia project supporting the impact of youth on European openness and unity, in light of the 40th anniversary of the Schengen Agreements. Lead site: Sant’Anna di Stazzema (Italy) and Partner site: Village of Schengen (Luxembourg)
Heritage for All: Educating in Times of Crisis - is an education initiative on inclusive heritage and supporting practices for vulnerable communities, such as Ukrainian refugees and children with behavioral difficulties. Lead site: Historic Ensemble of the University of Tartu (Estonia) and Partner site: Turaida Historical Centre (Latvia).
Heritage Challenge: Season 2 - is a series of digital storytelling created by youth teams from three countries, fostering co-creation, peer learning, and cultural interpretation through video. Lead site: The Oderbruch (Germany) and Partner sites: Colonies of Benevolence (Belgium/Netherlands) and Turaida Historical Centre (Latvia).
Pairing for Sharing - is an education and audience broadening initiative where heritage professionals collaborate with teens to co-develop educational tools and guided experiences towards a better connection with young audiences. Lead site: Archaeological Site of Nemea (Greece) and Partner site: Romanian Athenaeum (Romania).
Digital Together: Virtual Exhibitions as a Tool for Visibility and Networking of EHL Sites - is a cross-European pilot aiming at the development of virtual exhibitions and of a scalable digital platform for the EHL network. Lead site: Olomouc Premyslid Castle and Archdiocesan Museum (Czech Republic) and Partner sites: Fort Cadine (Italy), Museo Casa Alcide di Gasperi (Italy), Archive of the Crown of Aragon (Spain), Charter of Law of the Abolition of the Death Penalty (Portugal).
Voices of Peace: Connecting European Heritage Sites - is networking project focusing on peace and youth involvement through the production of shared communication materials and multilingual content. Lead site: Sites of the Peace of Westphalia (Germany) and Partner site: Castle Kynžvart (Czech Republic).
Heritage of Hope: The Abolitionist Legacy in Europe - is an exhibition and education project focusing on young audiences and exploring the legacy of abolitionism, human dignity, and the role of European cooperation. Lead site: Charter of Law of Abolition of the Death Penalty (Portugal) and Partner sites: General Library of the University of Coimbra (Portugal), Archive of the Crown of Aragon (Spain).
