The European Commission plans to restructure the European Heritage Label (EHL) and would like to hear your input.

By sharing your views, you will help shift towards a more consistent approach to selecting EHL sites and make the scheme more relevant and impactful, such as through:

- making the selection process clearer and more inclusive, so more sites and communities can benefit

- strengthening the focus on European significance, ensuring the Label highlights what we share across borders

- embedding today’s priorities – the green transition, digital innovation, inclusion and youth participation – into Europe’s heritage policy

- improving cooperation among EHL sites, creating networks and joint projects that bring European history closer to everyone

Have your say here until 23 February 2026.

Created in 2011, the European Heritage Label has been awarded to 67 sites across 22 EU countries, demonstrated in the interactive map here.

Ranging from historic archives and universities to cultural landscapes and memorials, these sites span from the dawn of civilisation to the Europe we see today.

The EHL sites celebrate and symbolise European values, diversity and history and help citizens – especially young people – to better understand what unites us.
