Halaqat launches its final Open Call for Projects, inviting artists, collectives, and cultural organisations based in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Belgium to propose initiatives that explore the themes of care and gender. Selected projects will be developed and implemented between January and November 2026.

Halaqat—Arabic for multiple links and circles—connects cultural practitioners from Europe and Arab countries, offering residencies, exchanges, and support schemes that focus on care through a gender lens. In its current phase (2024–2027), Halaqat emphasises cultural ecosystems in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Morocco, addressing questions of gender equity, power dynamics, and inclusive practices.
This open call supports innovative projects that reflect on how care can be reimagined and practiced across artistic and community contexts.
Applicants may apply under one of two support schemes:
Art Production Support Scheme
- For individual artists, groups, and collectives creating new works.
- Eligible fields: performing arts, visual/digital arts, literature, music, sonic arts.
- Applicants must demonstrate experience in publicly presenting previous projects.
Care Initiatives Support Scheme
- For organisations and collectives advancing care practices in the cultural sector.
- Eligible formats: research, publications, educational tools, digital platforms, workshops, podcasts, and more.
- Projects should prioritise accessibility, inclusivity, and knowledge-sharing with relevant communities.
Two types of grants are available:
- Small-scale grants: up to €2,500
- Medium-scale grants: up to €9,800
Funding can cover operational, artistic, and production costs. Applicants must provide a clear budget aligned with the project’s scale and objectives.
Applicants are eligible if they:
- Are 18 years or older.
- Apply as an individual, collective, organisation, or institution.
- Are based and active in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, or Belgium.
- Propose a project taking place in one of these countries between January–November 2026.
- Have completed at least two relevant projects demonstrating their capacity to deliver.
- Clearly address care and gender in an artistic, cultural, or community-based way.
