About the Dr Gavin Wallace Fellowship

This Fellowship was created to honour Dr Gavin Wallace, who dedicated his professional life to championing writers and literature organisations in Scotland. Since 2013, the Fellowship has continued his legacy by offering writers time and support to create work without the demands of project-based activities or workshops.

The selected host organisation will choose a broad theme for the Fellowship that aligns with their work and will then manage the recruitment of the Writing Fellow for 2025.

Eligibility Criteria for Host Organisations

Creative Scotland invites applications from arts, screen, and creative organisations, as well as public sector organisations that:

- Are based in Scotland.
- Have a demonstrated commitment to the arts in Scotland.
- Understand the developmental needs of writers and can offer the necessary support throughout the Fellowship.
- Show knowledge of Scotland's wider literature sector.
- Can provide a clear rationale for why hosting the Fellowship in 2025 will benefit their organisation’s work.

Support Available

A budget of £29,000 is available, split into a £24,000 stipend for the writer and £5,000 for the host organisation to support project planning and delivery.
