The Ode2Joy Challenge, led by a consortium of European organizations, is calling on individuals, groups, civil society organizations and more to unleash their creativity and put their own spin on the musical setting of Friedrich Schiller's famous poem.

From symphonic orchestras to rap, dance, theatre, flash mobs, videos, graphic art and beyond - the campaign is welcoming artistic expressions in any European language and any genre.

"In 2024, as we gear up for the European Parliament elections, we're also marking the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's iconic Ode to Joy. This masterpiece embodies the values that define our shared European identity: freedom, peace, and solidarity" say the organizers.

The challenge is open to participants from both EU and non-EU countries until June 2024. Submissions will then be showcased in a series of events leading up to the 2024 European Parliament elections.

The campaign is being led by a consortium of 7 partners, including the European Movement International and Europa Nostra. They are actively seeking additional supporting organizations to help amplify the initiative across Europe.

Submit your reimagined Ode to Joy masterpiece by June 21st, 2024, 23:59 CET.
