About Creative Grounds Fieldlab Sicily
The program connects participants with place-based projects, founder insights, and market intelligence across Sicily's emerging rural creative economy.
Rural Radicals announces the second edition of the Creative Grounds Fieldlab program, a four-day research tour designed for founders and funders actively building creative places in rural Europe. Taking place September 16-19, 2026, in Sicily's Catania region, the program offers firsthand access to rural regeneration projects at different stages of development—from grassroots community-driven spaces to artist residencies and design-forward retreat locations.
Participants will visit projects such as Galleria SARP (a 17th-century palazzo turned artist residency and gallery), Cummari (Europe's first female-focused rural coliving space), Meraki Residency (a restored farmhouse supporting collaborative creative work), Case Bagolaro (one of Etna’s largest wineries turned into a farm that preserves infinite biodiversity), and more.
Fieldlab program provides participants with: founder insights on financing, adaptive reuse, and community dynamics; market intelligence on available properties and heritage buildings; expert-led briefings on Sicily's legal frameworks and planning systems; peer exchange with other creative entrepreneurs, project leaders, investors, and placemakers building rural creative projects.
