De Structura and partners invite European artists aged 21 to 40 to participate in Unframed, a cross-disciplinary project that combines contemporary art with augmented reality (AR). The project explores pressing societal issues and transforms static artworks into interactive experiences through AR.

About the Exhibition
Unframed merges art and augmented reality to reinterpret European political and societal themes. The project is set across five European countries—Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Italy, and Romania. Selected artworks will address topics such as climate change, gender equality, AI ethics, and post-colonial theory. The project includes a sustainable physical installation system, Reality Array modules, made from recycled plastic, enhancing accessibility and reducing environmental impact.
This exhibition offers a platform for artists to transform European Parliament legislative documents into immersive dialogues, reaching diverse audiences and engaging younger generations through innovative storytelling.
Eligibility
European artists 21 to 40 years of age may choose up to three topics from the 15 provided and submit relevant artworks. Visual or performance artists in the mentioned age group with work addressing any of the topics listed below, are eligible to apply.
Themes
Each topic is derived from European Parliament legislative documents from the last three terms (2014–2024).
De Structura highlighted 15 European Parliament documents addressing a wide range of 15 topics:
- Forest, natural reserves, effects of human activity
- Accountability, the state, value of money
- Social justice, working conditions, skills
- Freedom of press and speech, fact and fiction, media, advertising
- Supply chain, overconsumption, forced labour
- Ukraine, freedom, wartime
- AI applications, mass surveillance, ethical dilemmas, algorithm structures
- Post colonial theory, ancestral heritage, critical geography
- Land, food, disrupted weather, rural challenges
- Passengers, old infrastructures, mobility, borders
- Pandemic-induced crises, stabilising, capital
- Gender, supporting women, queer culture, sexual health
- Climate change, mobility, environment and energy
- Coastal vegetations, more-than human beings, aquaculture
- Fair trade, the sea, the British Isles, Brexit
Mediums: Accepted formats include 2D artworks (e.g., high-quality images of paintings, short series of paintings or drawings), 3D works (e.g., sculptures, installations), other forms of digital artworks, and video documentation for performance art.
