Paul McCartney’s bonus track with the sound of his ‘empty studio’ is included in the vinyl version of the album Is This What We Want? to be released on the 8th of December.

The silent album is co-written by more than 1000 artists, composers, conductors, singers and producers, winners of Oscars, GRAMMYs and BRIT awards, including among others Billy Ocean, Ed O’Brien, Dan Smith, The Clash, Mystery Jets, Jamiroquai, Imogen Heap and Yusuf / Cat Stevens.

The digital launch of the album in February 2025 reached 38th place in the UK charts.

It was released as a protest to the proposed measures of the UK government on changing copyright law in late 2024, allowing artificial intelligence companies “to build their products using other people’s copyrighted work - music, artworks, text, and more - without a licence”.

To showcase the impact of the governmental proposals to the musicians’ livelihoods, the album consists of tracks with the sound of empty studios and performance spaces.

All profits from the album are being donated to the charity Help Musicians.
