The SCENE project aims to transform the European filmmaking industry by integrating advanced technologies with a steadfast dedication to social responsibility and sustainability. By harnessing tools such as AI-driven audience scouting, sophisticated distribution mechanisms, blockchain for intellectual property rights (IPR) protection, and 3D representations of cultural monuments, SCENE ensures that innovation aligns seamlessly with the principles of the New European Bauhaus.

Key Objectives of SCENE:

- Strengthening Industry Integration: SCENE addresses the challenges of integration within the filmmaking sector, aiming to reduce fragmentation and foster a more cohesive industry landscape.

- Embracing Disruptive Technologies: By incorporating cutting-edge technologies like Generative AI and blockchain, SCENE enhances operational efficiency while ensuring the protection of intellectual property rights.

- Promoting Cultural Heritage and Diversity: The project actively promotes European cultural heritage and diversity, contributing to inclusive growth, job creation, and social cohesion within the industry.

- Aligning with New European Bauhaus Principles: SCENE integrates sustainability, inclusivity, and aesthetics into the evolution of the filmmaking industry, reflecting the core values of the New European Bauhaus initiative.

- Establishing a Sustainable Decision-Making Framework: The project aims to create an innovative and sustainable decision-making framework to guide the long-term development of the sector.

By bridging technology, creativity, and cultural values, SCENE is shaping a resilient and competitive European filmmaking landscape, ensuring that the industry's evolution is both innovative and socially responsible.

Central to the project's mission are three pilot programs across Europe, each demonstrating SCENE's innovative solutions in real-world settings.

Pilot 1: City of Athens, Greece

Athens, rich in cultural heritage sites, has seen a surge in audiovisual productions. However, challenges persist in location management and industry professionalism. SCENE addresses these by implementing:

- Location Scouting Engine: Assists producers in selecting optimal filming sites within Athens, capturing short videos to test scouting functionalities.

- Post-Production Tools: Enhances audio and visual effects using specialized modules.

- IPR Blockchain: Safeguards intellectual property rights and facilitates NFT trading, including behind-the-scenes content.

- Distribution Mechanisms: Utilizes a distribution engine and recommender system to effectively reach target audiences.

Pilot 2: Troodos Ophiolite Sites, Cyprus

In Cyprus, the film industry is expanding, with a demand for high-quality cultural content. SCENE's pilot focuses on the Troodos ophiolite sites, candidates for World Heritage status, by:

- AI-Powered Audience Scouting: Conducts trend analysis to guide filmmakers in content creation.

- 3D Site Modeling: Creates accurate 3D models of locations like Khandria village and Malounta bridge, aiding directors in pre-shoot planning.

- Light and Sound Simulation Engines: Allows assessment of on-site conditions before filming.

Pilot 3: Cultural Tours in Italy

Accessing cultural sites for filming in Italy can be challenging due to strict regulations. SCENE offers alternatives by:

- 3D Virtual Modeling: Utilizes advanced equipment to create precise 3D models of sites like the Basilica of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria in Galatina.

- Simulation Tools: Employs light and sound simulation engines for pre-production planning.
