Peace for Art Foundation | Donation & Fundraising activities for Ukraine

Peace for Art aims to respond to the urgent need to help the Ukrainian artists and to act for the protection of existing and future cultural heritage.

March 29, 2022

The “Peace for Art” foundation was created in the days following the Russian attack on Ukraine by Cornélia Schmidmayr and Ivanna Bogdanova-Bertrand. Both have been involved in Ukrainian cultural life for many years and are therefore trusted by the highest cultural institutions in Ukraine.

Peace for Art aims to respond to the urgency of the situation by providing emergency assistance to artists in Ukraine who are deprived of any source of income, and by helping Ukrainian cultural institutions to protect their collections and the Ukrainian cultural heritage. The Foundation is already active and sending concrete aid to artists and museums. It also supports initiatives throughout Europe aimed at giving visibility to Ukrainian artists and Ukrainian culture.
Peace for Art needs funds and support to keep sending and organizing aid.

Two priorities have been identified that will constitute the main mission of the Foundation: Protection and Creation. This will be organized around three main axes:

  • support for Ukrainian artists outside of Ukraine who use their art to denounce the situation and report on the situation in their home country
  • support for the artists who could not leave Ukraine or decided to stay there and go on creating and producing artworks despite the conflict
  • support for cultural partners in the implementation of projects aimed at protecting the Ukrainian artistic and cultural heritage.

How to apply for financial assistance from the Foundation

Given the urgency of the situation, they offer different types of assistance. Please write them at contact@peaceforart.com and specify your situation:

  • They offer up to 200€ for artists still in Ukraine and in need of immediate financial support. This emergency aid is open for the period from March to May 2022. Its extension will be discussed and decided by the executive board according to the annual budget. Please send them your CV and any other document that may be useful to explain your situation.
  • Ukrainian artists, curators and cultural players in any artistic field who wish to submit an art project should send them a file with some pictures, as well as an estimate of the budget and time needed to complete the project. Projects can be partially or entirely funded.
  • If you are a cultural institution or partner (from any country) and wish to implement an artistic or cultural project, please send us a brief description of the projects and the main needs.
