Arts professionals and filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit their films for the 21st edition of FEST - New Directors | New Films Festival, taking place from June 21 to June 29, 2025, in Espinho, Portugal.

About FEST - New Directors | New Films Festival 2025:

FEST is a festival with many festivals inside. It is a new generation of festivals, featuring film screenings, music concerts & showcases, conference sessions, workshops, masterclasses, projects in development, competitions, TV showcases, awards ceremonies, and much more. It's an international film event committed to discovering and promoting new talents in the global film industry. Focused on innovation, creativity, and the sustainable development of cinema, the festival provides a unique platform for filmmakers to showcase their work to international audiences and industry professionals. FEST is now open for new Films and Series submissions for its 21st edition.

Eligible categories: 


- Feature Films: 1st and 2nd features (fiction/documentary)
- Short Films: Fiction, documentary, experimental, and animation from authors who have produced no more than 2 feature films
- Series: All genres, in the new non-competition category from authors who have produced no more than 2 feature films

Eligibility Criteria:

- Filmmakers who have produced no more than two feature films (longer than 55 minutes) are eligible to submit.
- Films must have been completed after January 1, 2024, and must not have been screened in previous editions of FEST.
- Submissions are accepted in the categories of Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental, and Children’s films.
- All films must be made available with English subtitles.
- Series submissions are limited to the first episode of the first season.
