Moving Narratives, a partnership between the Prince Claus Fund and British Council, supports creative practices committed to moving the world towards equitable and just futures. The organization invites applications from artists and cultural practitioners who are recentring marginalized histories or challenging contemporary narratives.
The program aims to amplify diverse voices and perspectives through artistic mediums, fostering more inclusive and just societies. Dominant discourses and one-sided worldviews can lead to the exclusion of diverse experiences, denying space for critical voices and sustaining social inequalities. By working with nuanced perspectives that show social and political complexities, artists have the power to expand our understanding of the past and reimagine our visions of the future.
For Cycle 2 of the Moving Narratives mentorship program, the organizers are seeking applications from individual, experienced artists and cultural practitioners who live and work in eligible countries, have between 7-15 years of relevant professional experience, and whose practice highlights marginalized histories that challenge dominant worldviews. The program provides a €10,000 award to each participant, as well as mentorship, workshops, and opportunities for collective experimentation and exchange.
The program's activities, which are mostly online with two in-person Lab Weeks, aim to encourage exploration, challenge practices, and support participants in developing artistic strategies that address dominant narratives and the inequalities they sustain. At the end of the program, the cohort collectively creates a joint project in the form of a printed publication and online platform.
