‘Disabled artists in the mainstream: a new cultural agenda for Europe’ emerges from the newly formed European Arts and Disability Cluster.
The report, published by British Council and Holland Dance Festival, and launched at Onassis Stegi, represents the first time that European transnational Arts and Disability projects have gathered in order to shape policy and demand cultural change at both a National and European level.
Before COVID-19, access to culture was recognised as a fundamental right of all citizens by the European Parliament. The arts and culture are now revealed to play a more important part than ever, not least in providing a source of strength, a lifeline of communication, thought-provoking entertainment, a platform for diverse voices and a vibrant sector that provides vital support to many, many workers.
By disseminating this report now, Europe Beyond Access is keeping access to culture as a priority.
