The Architects’ Profession Thermometer 2026 was organised by the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC) and Spain’s national council of architects, the Consejo Superior de los Colegios de Arquitectos de España (CSCAE), on the occasion of the congress held June 28–July 2, 2026. It was tied to the congress working body on the “Conditions of the Architectural Profession", which took place June 30 at the CCIB venue.
"The goal is to build as broad and representative a picture of the profession as possible within the current context, incorporating the diversity of the architectural community worldwide. Participation is open to all professionals, regardless of country, career stage, or employment status. The more responses received, the more accurate and useful this collective analysis will be."
The initiative is designed to collect data from architects and architecture professionals worldwide on:
- Employment status and working conditions
- Areas of activity, including design, planning and research
- Professional fees and economic conditions
- Internationalization and cross‑border work
- Key challenges and opportunities, such as regulation, sustainability and digital tools
Organisers describe the survey as a “thermometer” intended to build a broad, representative picture of the profession and inform future positions on fees, regulation and professional standards under the umbrella of the International Union of Architects (UIA).
