2025 brings changes to the name, format and timing of the celebrations for European Authors Day. Upcoming events in November 2025 and March 2026 are under preparation by the new consortium of the Universal Reading Foundation (Poland) and seven partners from five countries.
By Eirini PolydorouFrom 2025 onwards, the Day of European Authors is called European Authors Day and will include:
- Reading and book events between 11 November and 12 December.
- Training workshops in November 2025.
- A conference on reading promotion in March 2026.
The first Day of European Authors was celebrated in 2023 under the Creative Europe programme, with more than 1000 schools participating. In March 2024, approximately 2000 events celebrated the day in all 40 Creative Europe Countries.
After a call for proposals by the European Commission, a consortium of 7 partners from 5 countries has been selected to run the 2025, 2026 and 2027 editions of the action.
The leader of the consortium is the Universal Reading Foundation (Poland) and the partners include the National Library of Poland, the Stiftung Lesen from Germany, the Ciclic-the French public agency for books and images of the Centre-Val de Loire Region, the Chetene from Bulgaria, the Federation of European Publishers and the EURead network.
