The European Commission has opened a call for evidence and public consultation on the upcoming EU Civil Society Strategy.
Individuals and legal persons are welcome to provide their feedback until the 5th of September here.
The Strategy under development aims at providing the EU and member states with an action framework to strengthen active engagement and public support of civil society actors.
It's goal is to address “the shrinking civic space for civil society organisations and human rights defenders active in promoting and protecting EU values”.
The launching of the call for evidence and public consultations aims at recognising “the crucial role of civil society in our democracies and propose actions to foster a thriving civic space”.
As key actors of civil society, CCS, youth and media organisations are expected to give valuable feedback on challenges and possible solutions for safeguarding the EU’s civic space.
The new Strategy is expected to be adopted by the Commission in the third semester of 2025.
