The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities of Goethe University Frankfurt is seeking to appoint up to three post-doctoral fellows for the academic year 2023/2024.
These positions are open to candidates in the humanities or social sciences.

The Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften is seeking post-doctoral fellows who will contribute to the research focus "Democratic Vistas: Reflections on the Atlantic World" and its outreach platform, the John McCloy Transatlantic Forum. This program, which focuses on democracy from an interdisciplinary perspective and includes researchers from a variety of disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, has a broad focus on the "Atlantic World," including both classical transatlantic relations and the Atlantic World's North-South dimension.

As a post-doctoral fellow at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften, you will be expected to work on your own research projects and participate in academic events organized by the Forschungskolleg or members of the "Democratic Vistas" community at Goethe University. You will also be required to attend the research colloquium of the Kolleg and contribute to one or two outreach activities, such as workshops with advanced high school students, during your research stay.

To be considered for a post-doctoral fellowship at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften, candidates should have a doctorate in a discipline represented within the "Democratic Vistas" group and demonstrate potential for conducting and publishing research at an international level.

Goethe University is offering a grant to post-doctoral fellows at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften in Bad Homburg (near Frankfurt). The grant includes:
  • A monthly payment of 2400 €, which is tax-free in accordance with German income tax laws
  • A return trip (up to 2000 €) from the fellow's home to Frankfurt
  • A family allowance, if applicable
  • A mission allowance of up to 2000 € per year
  • An office at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften
  • Daily lunch at the Forschungskolleg (Monday to Friday)
  • Academic and general support from the staff of the Forschungskolleg
  • The option to rent an apartment in the guesthouse of the Kolleg at the fellow's own cost
