About the Forum

Organized annually by On the Move, the Cultural Mobility Forum brings together cultural professionals, policymakers, and researchers to examine global mobility trends. The 2025 edition, co-hosted by the Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) in partnership with Riga Cirks and HowlRound, will focus on:

- The challenges young artists and culture professionals face in establishing international careers
- The impact of remote learning, digitalization, and mobility justice on career pathways
- How the cultural sector can ensure inclusive and sustainable opportunities for emerging talent

Through a series of panels, discussions, and interactive sessions, the Forum will explore how international mobility can be reimagined to strengthen the resilience of the cultural sector.

New Solidarities: A Project for a Changing Mobility Landscape

The Cultural Mobility Forum 2025 is part of New Solidarities, a project co-funded by the European Union (2025–2028) and initiated by On the Move to rethink mobility in response to today’s rapidly evolving global challenges. The project is grounded in the understanding that solidarity is not charity but a recognition of shared destinies.

New Solidarities seeks to explore new sustainability mechanisms for the cultural sector by addressing:

- Equitable access to mobility and fairer working conditions for artists and culture professionals.
- Democracy resilience, with a focus on artistic freedom and support for at-risk and displaced artists.
- Ecological transition, particularly the development of ‘green mobility’ solutions.
- New forms of digital mobility, fostering human-centered approaches.

Cross-sectoral cooperation, to maintain strong connections worldwide and build new mobility solidarities.

As part of New Solidarities, the Cultural Mobility Forum 2025 will contribute to ongoing discussions on youth mobility, fair artistic opportunities, and sustainable career pathways in an increasingly uncertain world.
