About Aerowaves
Aerowaves is a hub for dance discovery in Europe. Aerowaves' team identifies the most promising new work by emerging dance artists and then promotes it through cross-border performances. Aerowaves’ network of partners in 34 countries enables these younger choreographers to bring brand new dance to brand new audiences. Aerowaves prides itself on its unique role as a connector between choreographers, dance programmers and dance enthusiasts across Europe.
What’s on Offer
- Guaranteed performance opportunities: Even if not selected, all submissions are eligible for programming by network partners, with ~100 opportunities annually.
- Long-term promotion: Selected works are featured on Aerowaves’ website for one year, with artist profile, images, videos, and press exposure.
- Showcase at Spring Forward Festival: Selected artists may present their work at the festival, with a performance fee, travel, accommodation, and per diem provided.
- Growth through persistence: Applying again with new work in subsequent years can build recognition.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
- Residency: Based in geographical Europe (Algarve to Ural, including UK; excluding Russia and Belarus).
Work requirements:
- One work per year
- Duration between 15–40 minutes
- Completed and premiered publicly (no works-in-progress)
- Suitable for double/triple bills with simple technical needs
Selection is based on:
- Original concept and strong choreography
- Clear, structured execution
- Adaptability to limited technical conditions
- Potential to benefit from international touring
