Applications Are Open for the 2026 European Heritage Awards

The European Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards invites submissions from individuals and organizations across Europe, offering €10,000 prizes and networking opportunities for outstanding cultural heritage projects by September 9, 2025.

2026 will be the 24th anniversary of the European Heritage/ Europa Nostra Awards. Since 2002, the Awards aim on distinguishing excellence on European cultural heritage protection, conservation, research, education, and promotion.  Submissions for 2026 Awards close on 9 September 2025.

The Awards come with the monetary prize of €10,000 for the winner of the Public’s Choice Award and for each of the five Grand Prix winners, to be selected by an independent jury.

The 30 selected finalists-winners of the Awards benefit from visibility and networking with heritage excellence colleagues, across Europe.

Eligible applicants include individuals, expert groups, or organisations.

Projects include tangible and intangible heritage and may be submitted under five categories;

1) Conservation & Adaptive Reuse

2) Research

3) Education, Training & Skills

4) Citizens’ Engagement & Awareness-raising; and

5) Heritage Champions

Meanwhile, this year’s 30 winners were announced in June and the vote is to be closed soon for the Public Choice Award 2025.

*This local ceremony was hosted in 26 October 2024 in the Rector’s Palace in Dubrovnik as a special ceremony to celebrate the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities, which received both an Award and the Grand Prix in the category Heritage Champions.
