Syros welcomes the Animasyros International Animation Festival 2025, the largest animation festival in Greece and one of the top 20 in Europe.
Animated Cosmos is this year’s theme, where animation art explores space in 25 feature and short films from Disney hits to celebrated independent European shorts.
Bill Plympton, the leading American animation director, will be in Syros as the 2025 festival screens ten of his films to pay tribute to his pioneering animation work and inspire others through his creative Agora masterclass.
The festival’s tribute to Croatian animation features 28 landmark films from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, alongside contemporary inspiring works.
Marking the 80th anniversary of Greek Animation, this year’s tribute pays homage to the pioneers of animation in Greece, with landmark films from the 1940s through the 1980s
ANIMASYROS 2025 will feature 113 films in the seven competition sections, including International, Students, K.I.D.S., AnimaPride, National Competition, TV & Commissioned Films, Feature Films.
A VR lounge, educational activities, cinematherapy and a variety of side events will be some of the many festival’s offerings to discover.
As in 2024, ANIMASYROS 2025 will extend beyond Syros, to seven branch offices of the Chamber in Andros, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, and Tinos.
