“At least two generations have not seen the Parthenon visually ‘free’ ”, stated Lina Mendoni, Greek Minister of Culture, celebrating the unveiling of the monument.

“It is a magnificent view [...] that will last for about a month, since new scaffolding needs to be set,” she continued and clarified that the new scaffolding will be lighter and aesthetically closer to the monument.

Athenians enjoy the free Parthenon from all possible views of the city. Acropolis enthusiasts rush to visit the monument as soon as possible and before the new construction works - scaffolding to be added in November. It is expected to stay put throughout spring 2026 and until summer 2026 maximum.
