Creatives Unite keeps an eye on events, conferences and trainings happening across Europe that connect and develop the Cultural and Creative Sector. This month we picked three events to attend related to cultural heritage, artists with disabilities and trust. The topics are pushing the limits into the modern perception of concepts like self awareness, inclusiveness and art in relation to the future. It's not too late to register!
ELIA is inviting arts educators, students, practitioners and professionals to explore the cultural heritage of Évora in Portugal. Situatedness is a concept of being existent in the current moment and an opportunity to experience the landscape as education. The participants will reflect on the journey of art from the past until now and the way of defining its value for the future. The event will promote the values of the future in artistic, cultural and social contexts through a mutual understanding of how everyone views the world differently based on their past experiences.

Europe's largest arts and disability programme Europe Beyond Access presents its final symposium online.
Livestreamed online, Europe's largest arts and disability programme Europe Beyond Access presents its final symposium on 26 May 2023.
These questions and more to be answered through contributions from Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, from European cultural networks, national Arts Councils & Ministries of Culture, and from leading disabled artists including Demy Papathanasiou (GR) and Aristide Rontini (IT).
Confirmed panels include:
“How Policymakers in Europe can lead the way in Cultural Accessibility”
In the 5 years of the Europe Beyond Access project there have been many positive changes at regional, national and transnational levels. But not all change has been positive, and the journey towards cultural equity is desperately slow. These questions and more will be discussed:
"Transforming the Cultural Ecosystem. Case Study: Italy"
This panel will explore how significant changes in opportunities for disabled dance artists in Italy have taken place in the last 5 years. Disabled artists, mainstream cultural institutions, Italian national networks, and national policymakers and funders have all contributed to this transformation.
Panellists will include Donatella Ferrante (former executive manager for the Italian General Directorate for Live Performing Arts), dance artist and co-founder of Al Di Qua artists’ Association Aristide Rontini, and representatives of both Oriente Occidente Dance Festival and Aterballeto - the only National Choreographic Centre in Italy.
The event will also feature a number of short films, focusing on improving allyship with disabled artists and audiences, introducing Italian artist-activist collective Al.Di.Qua, and exploring how policymakers can support the human rights of disabled artists.

Kultursymposium is returning in Weimar, Germany for three exciting days with the title A Matter of Trust, bringing together artists and creatives from across the world.
The Kultursymposium is returning to Weimar under the title »A Matter of Trust«! From 10th to 12th of May, the Goethe-Institut will be bringing together exciting personalities from across the globe to exchange ideas about the multifaceted topic of trust in debates, presentations, workshops and artistic works over the course of three days.
Trust plays a central role in many areas of life, both as an individual emotional category and as a fundamental social resource: as trust in our fellow humans, in private and business relationships, trust in political systems, media and science, in legal systems and international agreements, as trust in cultural codes, new technology and currencies – and last but not least, as trust in ourselves.
In a world in which past conflicts are re-emerging with unanticipated vehemence and contradictory information shapes our everyday media, trust is of elementary importance. Trust enables decision-making and taking action in complex situations, in which not all details can be researched and not every risk precisely assessed. At the Kultursymposium Weimar the role and effects of trust on our social interactions will be discussed from a global perspective in order to negotiate joint paths to make trust possible in a fragile world.

The event will take place from the 10th to the 12th of May 2023 at Évora, Portugal.
