The EXTER program is built on cooperation with leading residencies in the contemporary art sector in the countries where the Ukrainian Institute operates. Program partners are organizations and institutions that have experience, the necessary infrastructure, and a wide network of local contacts and are integrated into the international professional community. 

The Ukrainian Institute, the French Institute, the French Institute in Ukraine, the City Hall of Paris, and the Cité Internationale des arts announce an open competition for the EXTER x Cité Internationale des arts international residency program in 2026  . 

Applications are accepted until  June  1  , 2026 
Where: Cité Internationale des arts, Paris (France)
When: October – December 2026 (3-month residency, exact dates to be agreed with the selected resident)

AMOUNT

- travel expenses to/from Paris
- 1500 euros per month, including approximately 650 euros for accommodation at the Cité Internationale des arts and a scholarship of approximately 850 euros
- accommodation at the Cité Internationale des arts
- accommodation with children is welcome if necessary

ELIGIBILITY

The open call is for curators, art historians, researchers

Requirements: 

→ Ukrainian citizenship; → minimum age of 18 years; → English proficiency (level B2 and above); → openness to public communication and presentation of one's practices during the residency; → professional experience; → specialized professional education and/or other professional training is desirable, but not mandatory.

 

The selection of residents will be carried out jointly by the project partner teams and two independent experts. The selected resident will be provided with time and space for creative work, as well as institutional support in establishing contacts with local artistic communities. An individual program will be developed for the resident, based on his or her practice and expectations outlined in the application.
