The UAxEU project, coordinated by ELIA, invites cultural and arts education institutions, museums and heritage organisations, cultural centres, creative hubs, and community-based cultural initiatives across Europe to join the internship programme by hosting a Ukrainian cultural professional for a short-term internship in autumn 2026.

The UAxEU internship programme will create hands-on professional development opportunities for early to mid-career cultural professionals from Ukraine who are currently working within Ukrainian cultural and educational institutions. Through the short-term placements in diverse European organisations, participants are expected to gain practical knowledge and experience, expand their professional networks while exchanging new methods and approaches between Ukrainian and EU institutions.

By becoming a hosting institution, you will be able to build meaningful professional relationships, deepen your organisation's engagement with Ukrainian cultural sectors while supporting cultural recovery through solidarity and practical cooperation.

About the Internship Programme

The UAxEU Internship Programme will support 30 participants over three years, with 10 candidates selected each year from 2026 to 2028.

Each participant will undertake a 2-3 week on-site internship within the host organisation in fall, which will be preceded by an online preparatory phase. The internships are designed to be structured, practical and mutually beneficial. Participants are expected to be embedded in relevant activities, guided by a mentor or supervisor, and supported to contribute to a defined task, project, or area of work or ongoing activities.

Each participant will receive a €1,000 stipend to support travel and subsistence costs. Because the support is limited, host organisations are encouraged, where possible, to offer additional in-kind support such as affordable accommodation, discounted meals in canteens (if available), local transport, or access to relevant events and networks.
