ECA | Open Call for Research Proposals: Ukrainian Crafts in Times of Crisis

ECA seeks for researchers to produce a comprehensive analysis of the Ukrainian crafts ecosystem

The European Crafts Alliance (ECA) is seeking proposals from expert researchers to produce a comprehensive analysis of the Ukrainian crafts ecosystem following the Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Building on the ECA’s established track record of sectoral intelligence, this study represents a vital step in our ongoing mission to strengthen the European crafts profession. Commissioned within the framework of our EU co-funded CraftsNet project, the research will document the resilience of Ukrainian craftspeople and provide evidence-based tools to ensure their professional continuity.

The successful contractor will be expected to deliver a situation analysis covering practitioners in Ukraine and abroad, alongside a practical "Resilience Toolkit".

ELIGIBILITY

Suitable Candidate

The successful bidder will be an expert consultant or research entity with a stable, multidisciplinary team. Required expertise includes:
- Proven experience in research related to crafts, culture, cultural policy, or creative sectors, preferably in crisis or post-conflict contexts.
- Experience working with displaced communities and/or conducting socially sensitive qualitative research.
- Capacity to engage with stakeholders across multiple European countries and Ukraine.
- Experience in policy-oriented research and formulation of practical recommendations.
- Ability to deliver all outputs in English.
