RAD Curatorial 2026 | 2026 Open Call for Curators

RAD Curatorial invites art curators for a unique curatorial opportunity in Bucharest

RAD Curatorial (by RAD Association and the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Romania) is an annual program that fosters innovation in curatorial practice. Designed as a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, collaboration, and community building, the initiative is pivotal in strengthening the Romanian art scene and its positioning within regional and global contexts. Since its launch in 2023, RAD Curatorial has brought together over 60 curators from more than 17 countries across 4 continents, fostering meaningful discussions, visits, and encounters in Bucharest. In just a few years, it has become a cornerstone of the RAD Art Fair - Romania’s leading contemporary art fair -, establishing itself as a key site for shaping curatorial thinking and building lasting international networks.

Purpose

The Open Call aims to allow curators to engage directly with the art scene in Romania and the broader region, enabling lasting collaborations and professional exchanges between local and international art communities.

AMOUNT

RAD Association is committed to supporting visiting curators by offering financial assistance to attend the event. Participation is free of charge and open to both Romanian and international curators. Accommodation will be provided by the organizers, cultural institutes, and strategic partners. This year, several travel grants are available. To strengthen their case, applicants should provide clear, thoughtful, and detailed responses in their application.

ELIGIBILITY

Emerging and experienced professionals in curation and art writing with at least three years of experience as well as curatorial collectives interested in engaging with the Romanian and regional art scene are welcome to apply. The final group will bring together selected applicants and invited guest speakers, representing a diverse range of professional backgrounds and expertise. Participants should be available to attend the summit from April 21 to 26, 2026 in person in Bucharest. All activities will be conducted in English.
