AICA International | Incentive Prize for Art Critics 2025

AICA International awards art critic essays from all over the world

The 2025 AICA International Congress explores the theme “Imaging / Shaping / Re-Thinking the Global South through Art,” but essays may address any topic in art criticism. This annual prize aims to recognise excellence in contemporary art writing across media and geographies, with the top entries rewarded with cash prizes and international recognition.

The first-place winner will be invited to present their essay virtually at the Johannesburg Congress and all winning essays will be published on the AICA website. All entries are eligible for online publication by AICA-International.

- 2000-3000 word count essay (one essay per applicant) with bibliography
- Optional six images (max) labeled
- Short BIO including writer’s nationality, workplace and email
