Residency opportunity for two Eastern European artists in Porto
Located in the old Freixo thermoelectric plant, Circolando – Central Elétrica is a center for artistic residencies and creation located on the outskirts of Porto, which seeks to give new meaning to a part of this deactivated industrial hub, pulsating and generating other forms of energy. In recent years, Central Electrica has expanded its focus on disciplinary intersections, promoting intersectional artistic encounters where notions of boundaries, both real and abstract, are dispelled.
With this call, two artists from Eastern Europe are invited to carry out an artistic residency in person at the Central Elétrica, in Porto, between January 3rd and February 2nd, 2025. The results will be shared with the public through an informal exhibition at WATTS – Ciclo de Arte e Sonoridades.

AMOUNT
CRL – Central Elétrica guarantees:
1) Creation support grant in the gross amount of €1,000, upon presentation of an invoice;
2) Daily value of €25 per person per day, as a contribution towards food, local transport, etc.
3) Travel allowance of 350 euros per person for round trips (note: for short distances, less than 600 km, air travel is only permitted in exceptional and well-justified cases)
4) Supplements allocated to each participant based on their travel plans and individual needs (ecological supplement; overseas countries and territories or outermost regions, visas, family)
5) Accommodation
6) Possibility of artistic support for the project;
7) Support for the dissemination of the project via email to the national and international contact database, social networks and the Circolando – Central Elétrica website;
8) Organization of a final public presentation of an informal nature at the Power Station, located at CACE Cultural do Porto.

The projects presented must come from Eastern European territories ( Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania )
In addition to geographical issues, attention will be paid to projects that engage with the creative themes that the residency embraces in 2025 – Memory and Landscape –, based on artists who intertwine music and performativity, aiming to deepen the exchange of knowledge and artistic practices.
