ELIGIBILITY

Activities that can be funded:

Translation, pubblication, promotion and distribution activities as well as activities addressing the themes and priorities described.

In order to be eligible, the applicants (beneficiaries and affiliated entities) must:

  • Be legal entities (public or private bodies).
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.:
  • Creative Europe Participating Countries: EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories (OCTs)), non-EU countries: listed EEA countries and countries associated to the Creative Europe Programme (list of participating countries).
  • Other eligibility conditions: Applicant (i.e. the Coordinator) must have had a legal existence for at least 2 years on the date of the deadline for submission of applications.
  • Applicant (i.e. the Coordinator) must be active in the publishing and book sector.

Beneficiaries and affiliated entities must register in the Participant Register — before submitting the proposal — and will have to be validated by the Central Validation Service (REA Validation). For the validation, they will be requested to upload documents showing legal status and origin.

Other entities may participate in other consortium roles, such as associated partners, subcontractors, third parties giving in-kind contributions, etc.


APPLICATION DETAILS

The following Call has specific priorities:

  • To strengthen the transnational circulation and diversity of European literary works.
  • To encourage the translation, publication and promotion of works of fiction written in less widely spoken languages in order to increase their distribution in wider markets in Europe and beyond.
  • To enlarge the audience for European books, especially to young people by actively encouraging them to discover the diversity of European literature.
  • To contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the book sector by encouraging cooperation between different actors within the book value chain- including booksellers and libraries.
  • To promote the literary translator profession and the principles of visibility, good working conditions and fair remuneration of translator. In this respect publishers should ensure that the name of the translator(s) is in the published book, preferably on the cover, as well as the source language.

NB: in order to continue to provide support to Ukraine in the field of books, projects aimed at providing books in the Ukrainian language to Ukrainian refugees and displaced people will be encouraged.
