First open call for peer learning visits on high quality architecture

Living Spaces - Cities and regions shaping the built environment for everyone is the European peer-learning programme on high-quality architecture and built environment.

The peer-learning visits are an opportunity to see first-hand how other cities and regions have implemented policies and projects contributing to a high-quality living environment for everyone.

Participants will gain valuable experience in architecture and the built environment and will enhance their knowledge and skills.

The visits will offer networking opportunities and will connect peers, experts and relevant stakeholders from different background and cities/regions.

TYPE OF SUPPORT
Living Spaces will cover international travel, accommodation (2 nights) and meal costs (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners) for participants in the host city/region. Detailed budget guidelines will be shared with participants ahead of the visit.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Active professionals (technical staff and/or elected representatives) working on architecture, public space design and/or urban planning, for local or regional administrations from European Union Member states: 16 places available per visit.
  • Urban planners, architects, representatives from civil society organisations, NGOs, initiatives/projects, thematic associations relevant for the topic of the visit (e.g. in culture, heritage, health, safety and wellbeing, sustainability, mobility, gender equality) in European Member states: 4 places available per visit.
  • Active professionals working on architecture, public space design and/or urban planning, for a national administration in European Union Member states: 5 places available per visit. Attention: participation at cost of your ministry/administration. The allocation of these places will be based on a presentation of specific learning needs and decided on an ad-hoc basis.

APPLICATION DETAILS

The visits will take place in 12 of the cities and regions that are featured on the new European catalogue “Cities and regions driving high-quality architecture”.

The focus of the peer learning visits will be on architecture and the built environment, departing from the city or region's good practice in the catalogue.

About 20 participants from local and regional administrations in European countries and relevant stakeholders working in architecture and the built environment will spend 3 days with the host and the Living Spaces team of experts to delve in local strategies and projects.

  4. Prague, Czech Republic: 24-26 April
  5. Vienna, Austria: 15-17 May
  6. Grand Paris Sud, France: 5-7 June
  7. Brussels, Belgium: 17-19 June
  8. Bordeaux, France: 3-5 July (date tbc)
  9. Oulu, Finland: 11-13 September
  10. Vilnius, Lithuania: 18-20 September
  11. Malmo, Sweden: 9-11 October
  12. Gdansk, Poland: 23-25 October
