Surveys of the Architects’ Council of Europe on the impacts of the Covid-19 on the profession

The Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) conducted two surveys among its Member Organisations to understand how they are dealing with the COVID-19 crisis and try to evaluate its initial impact on the architectural profession and market.

It is still too early to assess accurately the impact of the ongoing measures on the architectural profession and market. However, several organisations report already that architects in their country are encountering problems of non or late payment.  There are growing concerns about cash flow pressures on architectural offices in the short/medium term if too many projects are slowed down, stalled or cancelled, and also about possible legal disputes regarding the potential application of “force majeure” clauses in construction contracts and professional services contracts.
